Golf Takes Second at Fall Championship

ELKIN, NC – The Louisburg College golf team earned second place in this weekend's Region X Fall Championship at the Cedarbrook Country Club. As the 2011 champions at Cedarbrook, the Hurricanes relinquished possession of the trophy that is passed along to the 2012 winner Sandhills CC. Since 2008 Louisburg has won the Championship twice, came in second twice and took third place once.  

Sandhills CC won the Fall Championship with a team score of 620, ahead of Louisburg's team score of 664. Surry CC (670) and Johnston CC (672) rounded out the field for the 2012 championship tournament. 

 Louisburg's Juan Fernandez (Panama City, Panama) was the Hurricanes top finisher as he earned a tie for fourth place with scores of 78 and 81. Cal Addy (Newfield, NY) earned tenth place overall (80 & 85) while Ty Niday (Lexington, NC) earned a tie for thirteenth place (88 & 81). Zach Robins (Southern Shores, NC) was the 'Canes fifth finisher as he earned fifteenth place (85 & 86).
 
The Canes golf team currently sits with a record of 18-14 and will make their last appearance this fall when they compete in the Savannah State University Fall Invitational in Savannah, Georgia on Nov 10-11.
