Golf Opens Up Spring Play

SMITHFIELD, NC – The Louisburg College golf team opened up their spring schedule as they played on a golf course soaked by several hours of rain the day before. The Canes' golfers tramped the mucky and wet course at the Country Club of Johnston County where mud adhered to their balls, woods, irons, shoes, and other golf equipment.

The team scores in the single day tournament were 324 for Wake Tech CC, 335 for Surry CC, 354 for Johnston CC, and a disappointing 372 for Louisburg. In their first spring competition, the Canes were represented by Clay Boerner (Statesboro, NC), Tanner Bradley (Louisburg, NC), Michael Landis (Winston-Salem, NC), Ty Niday (Lexington, NC), Zach Robins (Southern Shores, NC), and Sumner Tate (Raleigh, NC).

The Canes will next compete on Saturday, March 2-3 against the Apprentice School at Myrtle Beach National and Burning Ridge golf courses in Myrtle Beach, SC.
