Louisburg Advances to Region 10 Championship with 6–1 Victory Over Cape Fear
LOUISBURG, N.C. — Louisburg College men's soccer stormed into the Region 10 Championship with a 6–1 semifinal win over Cape Fear Community College on Wednesday, fueled by a five-goal performance from Jaden Hilliard and a second-half strike from Kevin Moran.
CFCC opened the scoring (42:15 left in the first half), but the Hurricanes answered at 36:14 when a redirected effort found the net to level the match. Louisburg kept the pressure on as #10 Euan Russell and #2 Kevin Moran combined for multiple chances, and the breakthrough came when Hilliard finished a cross from #21 Diego Ortiz Enriquez to send LC to halftime up 2–1.
Early in the second half, Moran doubled the advantage with a low drive past the CFCC keeper for 3–1. From there, Hilliard took over:
-
Hilliard scored again off a sequence started by #23 Andreas Florin Olsson up the left to Ortiz Enriquez (#21), who provided the final pass (4–1).
-
Moments later, Olsson (#23) intercepted a CFCC break, carried the length of the field, and set up Hilliard for another (5–1, ~30' remaining).
-
Hilliard capped the day with an unassisted strike at 21:37 to complete his five-goal performance and the 6–1 final.
Louisburg generated chances throughout: Russell tested the keeper from range; Moran had multiple near-misses off service from #8 Miguel Gandarilla; #23 Olsson forced a strong save; and #9 Eriya Ndinayo nearly added one over the bar. The CFCC goalkeeper produced several quality stops, including on a dangerous LC corner sequence following a Hilliard attempt, but the Hurricanes' sustained pressure proved decisive.
With the victory, top-seeded Louisburg advances to the Region 10 Championship and will host Wake Tech Community College on Saturday at 12 p.m. at the Ronald R May Field on the campus of Louisburg College.
