The Louisburg College track and field team wrapped up its indoor season March 6–7 at the NJCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships, held at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility in Topeka, Kansas. The national meet brought together top junior college athletes from across the country to compete on the 200-meter banked track.

Despite a few tough breaks, the Hurricanes delivered several strong performances and closed out a productive indoor season.

"We didn't get all the results we wanted at indoor nationals," assistant coach Warren Caldwell said. "But overall it was still a great season. Our athletes showed a lot of growth, and I believe we'll see even more qualify for outdoor nationals this spring."

One of the top performances came from Asiyah Wall in the women's 400 meters. Wall ran a strong 56.28 in the preliminary round to advance to the finals. However, she was later disqualified due to a technical lane infraction, which ended her chances of earning All-American honors.

Despite the setback, Wall capped an impressive indoor season that included multiple school records and one of the fastest 400m times in the nation.

"It's tough because she had a great opportunity in the finals," Caldwell said. "But she's had an outstanding season and continues to raise the bar for our program."

On the men's side, Derrick Harris delivered one of the biggest highlights of the meet in the 800 meters. Entering the race with a personal best of 1:59.9, Harris ran a breakthrough performance of 1:56.7, lowering his PR by more than three seconds.

"That was a huge moment for Derrick," Caldwell said. "He's continuing to improve, and I'm excited to see what he can do during the outdoor season."

The national meet marked the conclusion of the Hurricanes' indoor campaign, which included multiple personal records and school-record performances throughout the winter.

With the indoor season complete, Louisburg now shifts its focus to the outdoor track and field season, where the Hurricanes look to build on the momentum gained this winter.
