Hurricanes Earn Strong Marks at McAlpine Park
The Louisburg College men's cross country team competed Friday at McAlpine Park in Charlotte, racing against a highly competitive collegiate field.
Leading the way for the Hurricanes was Alex Dempsey, who turned in a breakout performance with a 57-second personal best, finishing in 26:13. He was closely followed by teammates Derrick Harris (26:48) and Christian Ortiz(27:24), as the trio worked together through much of the race in a strong pack.
Just behind, Brandon Miller fought hard to close the gap on the lead group, finishing with a time of 29:41. Brennen Stillion wrapped up the lineup, competing in his first collegiate 8K. Stillion notched a personal best at the 5K split during the race and showed great enthusiasm as he crossed that mark.
As a team, Louisburg placed 17th out of 21 colleges, finishing ahead of three NCAA Division I and Division II programs. The performance highlighted both individual progress and the program's continued development against higher-level competiion.
