Hurricanes Post Strong Performances at Queens Invitational
The Louisburg College men's and women's cross country teams turned in strong efforts on Friday afternoon at the Queens Invitational in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The day opened with the women's 5K race, where Feyissa Woods delivered an impressive performance, setting a new personal best time.
In the men's 8K race, the Hurricanes competed against a competitive field featuring programs from across the East Coast, finishing 10th out of 18 teams. The team was led by Alex Dempsey (26:17, who placed 13th overall out of 169 runners with an outstanding performance. Derek Harris followed closely behind, finishing 18th with a time of 26:37.
Christian Ortiz ran a strong race as well, crossing the line in 27:58. Brandon Miller showed great improvement, running 22 seconds faster than his previous effort on the same course. Rounding out the scoring was Zay Harrison, who recorded a new personal best for the 8K distance with a time of 30:49..
The Hurricanes will return to action at the NJCAA Regional Championships on October 25.
