#14 Hurricanes Battle Through Demanding Road Trip

The preseason No. 14-ranked Louisburg College softball team wrapped up a challenging six-game road swing last week, earning a doubleheader sweep at Gordon State before facing national powerhouses in Florida, including preseason No. 1 (D1) Northwest Florida State.

The trip tested the Hurricanes against high-level competition — and they answered with big offensive performances, clutch pitching, and resilience in tight games.

Doubleheader Sweep at Gordon State

Louisburg opened the week in Barnesville, Georgia with an impressive two-game sweep.

In the first game, the Hurricanes erupted for 16 hits in a 10–2 victory.

Sarah Hess went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a double to spark the offense at the top of the lineup.
Emily Clay launched a home run and drove in two runs.
Allie Boone added three hits and two RBI.
The biggest swing of the game came from Madisen Barringer, who blasted a grand slam and finished with four RBI.
Aubre Moore collected three hits and stole two bases to keep pressure on the defense.

In the circle, Magen Daniels tossed a complete game, allowing just two runs (none earned) to secure the win.

Game two featured another strong performance, this time a 4–0 shutout.

Caylee Stevens delivered six scoreless innings to lead the Hurricanes in the circle.
Hess stayed hot with two hits, including a home run.
Boone continued her strong week with three hits.
Moore added a double and an RBI, and Leigh Anna Carter contributed a run-scoring hit.

Louisburg left Georgia with momentum and confidence.

Competing Against Elite Competition in Florida

The Hurricanes then traveled to Niceville, Florida for four games against national competition.

Snow College

Louisburg fell in the matchup with Snow College but showed flashes offensively.

Emily Clay tripled and drove in two runs.
Aubre Moore added two hits.

The Hurricanes jumped out early with two runs in the first inning before Snow capitalized on key scoring opportunities.

Lincoln Trail – Late-Inning Comeback

Louisburg bounced back in dramatic fashion with a 4–3 comeback victory over Lincoln Trail.

Trailing late, the Hurricanes plated two runs in the seventh inning to secure the win.

Allie Boone delivered a standout performance with a home run, a triple, and three RBI.
Sarah Hess went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.
Emily Clay added two hits to keep the offense moving.

In relief, Caylee Stevens shut the door with 3.1 scoreless innings, while Magen Daniels kept Louisburg within reach early. It was a complete team effort and a gritty response after a tough loss earlier in the day.

Northwest Florida State (Preseason #1 D1)

The Hurricanes closed the trip against preseason No. 1 Northwest Florida State, one of the top programs in the country.

While the Raiders' lineup proved explosive, Louisburg continued to compete offensively and gain valuable experience against elite pitching and power at the plate.

Facing the top-ranked Division I team provided a measuring stick early in the season and will pay dividends as the Hurricanes move into conference play.

Standout Hurricanes on the Week

Across the six-game stretch:

  • Sarah Hess consistently set the tone at the top of the order with multiple multi-hit games, a home run, and aggressive baserunning.

  • Allie Boone powered the lineup with extra-base hits and timely RBI.

  • Emily Clay delivered middle-of-the-order production with extra-base power.

  • Aubre Moore provided speed and consistency offensively.

  • In the circle, Magen Daniels and Caylee Stevens both earned wins and showed poise in pressure situations.

The road trip was exactly what early-season competition should be — challenging, competitive, and growth-oriented. The Hurricanes showed they can win close games, generate offense throughout the lineup, and compete against nationally ranked opponents.

With a 3–3 week against strong competition, No. 14 Louisburg College continues building momentum and sharpening its edge as the season moves forward.
