Hurricanes Roll to Doubleheader Sweep Over Vermont State Johnson
Louisburg College softball picked up a dominant doubleheader sweep on Wednesday, defeating Vermont State Johnson 12–0 and 11–3 in North Myrtle Beach.
The Hurricanes controlled both games from the first pitch, using aggressive baserunning, timely extra-base hits, and strong pitching performances to secure the sweep.
Game One – Louisburg 12, Vermont State Johnson 0
Louisburg wasted no time setting the tone in the opener, building steady offensive pressure before breaking the game open late.
The Hurricanes tallied 12 runs on five hits while taking advantage of speed on the bases.
Olivia Martin led the offense with two hits and three RBI.
Marissa D'Antonio tripled and drove in a run.
Madisen Barringer added a double and an RBI.
Abigail Loser recorded a hit and RBI, while Allie Boone and Reah Lee each contributed run-scoring at-bats.
Louisburg's speed game was relentless. The Hurricanes racked up multiple stolen bases, including four from Sarah Hess and two from Boone.
In the circle, Magen Daniels was dominant. She tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing no hits while striking out 10. Daniels kept Vermont State Johnson off balance all afternoon and set the defensive tone for the day.
Game Two – Louisburg 11, Vermont State Johnson 3
The Hurricanes followed up with another strong performance in the second game.
Louisburg plated 11 runs, highlighted by extra-base power and aggressive baserunning once again.
Sarah Hess doubled twice and drove in two runs.
Reah Lee delivered a home run and two RBI.
Julia Macconnell doubled twice and drove in a run.
Madisen Barringer added two hits and an RBI.
Abigail Loser scored three times and swiped five bases as part of another aggressive basepath performance.
Louisburg totaled 11 runs despite just five hits, capitalizing on walks, defensive pressure, and stolen bases to create scoring opportunities.
In the circle, Kaylie Cook started strong with three scoreless innings, striking out four. Grace Arnold closed out the game to secure the sweep.
