Softball Sweeps Richard Bland on the Road

PETERSBURG, VA — Louisburg College softball left no doubt on Thursday, sweeping a doubleheader at Richard Bland College in dominant fashion with 16-0 and 8-0 run-rule victories.

The Hurricanes controlled every phase of both games, combining for 24 runs on 20 hits while allowing just one hit across 10 innings in the circle.

Game 1: Louisburg 16, Richard Bland 0 (5 innings)
Louisburg's offense erupted early and never slowed down, plating runs in four of the five innings to secure the run-rule win.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the first, the Hurricanes broke things open in the third with back-to-back home runs from Allie Boone and Savannah Miller, extending the lead to 5-0. The offense kept rolling in the fourth, highlighted by Boone's two-run double, before a seven-run fifth inning put the game out of reach.

Boone led the way with a 2-for-3 performance, including a home run, double, and three RBIs. Miller added a three-run homer and finished with three RBIs, while Leigh Anna Carter homered and drove in two. Louisburg drew eight walks and showed aggressive baserunning with four stolen bases.

In the circle, Magen Daniels was untouchable, tossing a five-inning no-hitter while striking out seven and facing just 16 batters.

Game 2: Louisburg 8, Richard Bland 0 (5 innings)
The Hurricanes carried that momentum into game two, using a five-run second inning to take control early.

Miller got the scoring started with a solo home run before Boone delivered the big blow with a three-run triple to make it 4-0. Louisburg added two more runs in the fourth on a Miller single and capped the scoring in the fifth with a solo home run from Carter.

Boone finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Miller went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a home run. Carter also had a strong day at the plate, scoring twice and adding a home run.

Louisburg's pitching staff continued to dominate, as Caylee Stevens and Reece Pickett combined for a one-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts.

With the sweep, the Hurricanes showcased both explosive offense and dominant pitching, outscoring Richard Bland 24-0 on the day.
