Softball Sweeps Cleveland CC Behind Strong Pitching, Late Offense
SHELBY, NC — Louisburg College softball continued its dominant stretch on Saturday, sweeping a doubleheader at Cleveland Community College with a 10-3 win in game one and a 2-0 shutout in game two.
The Hurricanes leaned on timely hitting and outstanding pitching throughout the day, securing their fourth straight win.
Game 1: Louisburg 10, Cleveland CC 3
After a quiet start, Louisburg broke through in the fourth inning and never looked back.
The Hurricanes plated three runs in the fourth, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Heather Ryden, before adding two more in the fifth to build a 5-0 lead. Cleveland cut into the deficit with three runs in the sixth, but Louisburg responded emphatically with a five-run seventh inning to put the game away.
Allie Boone led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, while Reah Lee added a home run. Ryden paced the Hurricanes with three hits and three RBIs, and Brittany Gingrich chipped in two RBIs. Aubre Moore also had a strong day at the plate with two hits and two runs scored.
In the circle, Magen Daniels was dominant once again, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits. Despite a brief rally from Cleveland in the sixth, Louisburg maintained control and closed out the win.
Game 2: Louisburg 2, Cleveland CC 0
Game two turned into a pitcher's duel, but Louisburg found just enough offense to complete the sweep.
The Hurricanes got on the board in the third inning and added an insurance run in the seventh on an RBI from Sarah Hess. Heather Ryden and Leigh Anna Carter each scored a run, while Aubre Moore added a hit to help spark the offense.
Caylee Stevens delivered a complete-game shutout, scattering four hits over seven innings while working around three walks to keep Cleveland off the board. The Hurricanes' defense also came up big, turning key plays to preserve the shutout.
With the sweep, Louisburg continues to build momentum heading deeper into conference play.
