Hurricanes Cap Season with Softball World Series Run
SPARTANBURG, SC - The Louisburg College softball team wrapped up its 2026 campaign with a trip to the NJCAA Division II Softball World Series in Spartanburg, South Carolina, capping a season that saw the Hurricanes win Region 10 and Atlantic District championships while finishing 43-9 overall and ranked No. 19 nationally. Playing at Tyger River Park, the Hurricanes battled through five games against some of the top programs in the country, earning three wins on the national stage.
Louisburg opened the tournament on May 19 with a 4-2 win over Cuyahoga Community College. The Hurricanes used timely hitting and strong pitching to secure the victory. Sophomore standout Allie Boone drove in two runs, while Reah Lee added an RBI single. Aubre Moore scored three runs and Magen Daniels earned the win in the circle before Reece Pickett closed the door with a save.
Later that day, Louisburg faced top-seeded Murray State College. The Aggies capitalized on a seven-run first inning and handed the Hurricanes a 7-1 loss. Savannah Miller drove in Louisburg's lone run in the seventh inning.
Facing elimination on May 20, the Hurricanes responded with one of their biggest comeback wins of the season, rallying past Bryant and Stratton College 5-4. Trailing 4-0 early, Louisburg chipped away before Abigail Loser delivered the game-winning RBI single in the seventh inning. Loser finished with three RBIs, Savannah Miller collected three hits and Reece Pickett tossed 4.2 innings of relief to earn the win.
Louisburg kept its season alive again on May 21 with a 7-5 victory over South Mountain Community College. The Hurricanes erupted for four runs in the first inning and never trailed again. Brittany Gingrich drove in two runs, Allie Boone homered and Kaylie Cook recorded the save after closing out the final two innings.
The Hurricanes' tournament run came to an end later that evening with a 10-1 loss to Des Moines Area Community College. Heather Ryden drove in Louisburg's lone run, while Aubre Moore tripled and scored.
The World Series appearance marked the culmination of a dominant season for the Hurricanes, who finished:
- Region 10 Champions
- Atlantic District Champions
- NJCAA Division II World Series participants
- 42-9 overall record
- No. 19 national ranking
Louisburg also completed the regular season as Region 10 champions with a 15-1 conference record before advancing through postseason play.
Throughout the season, the Hurricanes were powered by a balanced lineup featuring Boone, Pickett, Ryden, Lee, Miller and Gingrich, along with strong pitching performances from Daniels, Pickett, Cook and others in the circle.
