Second-Half Surge Lifts Hurricanes Past Guilford Tech
LOUISBURG, N.C. — The Louisburg College Women's Basketball team turned a tight, physical first half into a statement win Thursday night, pulling away in the final two quarters for a 78–65 victory over Guilford Technical Community College inside Roger Taylor Arena. The Hurricanes outscored the Titans 45–29 after halftime, improving to 7–1 overall and staying perfect on their home floor.
Louisburg trailed 36–33 at the break after a back-and-forth opening half in which Guilford Tech led by as many as eight and the Hurricanes struggled to find consistent rhythm offensively. That changed quickly coming out of the locker room. Khouri White opened the third quarter with a three-pointer to tie the game, sparking a momentum shift that Louisburg never relinquished.
Behind aggressive defense and improved ball movement, the Hurricanes poured in 23 points in the third quarter, turning a three-point deficit into a seven-point advantage heading into the final frame. Ziahmiya Adams and Jaya Hamilton consistently attacked the lane, while Quincie Toran delivered timely perimeter shooting to stretch the defense.
Hamilton finished with 17 points, including several key baskets during a decisive fourth-quarter run that pushed the lead into double digits. Adams matched her with 17 points, adding six rebounds and two steals, while White knocked down three three-pointers on her way to 12 points. Toran provided a big lift off the bench with 10 points, and Taliya Rowe chipped in 13 points and six rebounds, continuing her strong play in extended minutes.
With the win, the Hurricanes close out the calendar year on a high note and carry momentum into the heart of the season.
