Lady Hurricanes Wrap Up Season at NJCAA Region 10 Championships

The Louisburg College women's cross country team traveled to Shelby, North Carolina, to compete in the NJCAA Region 10 Championships on a cool, crisp morning — a perfect setting for a classic cross country race.

The Hurricanes were represented by Shamena Harrison and Feyissa Woods, who both turned in strong performances to close out the 2025 season.

Leading the way for Louisburg was Shamena Harrison, competing in just the second race of her collegiate career. Harrison finished with a time of 27:27, placing just one spot shy of earning All-Region honors. Her effort marked a remarkable five-minute improvement from her season debut at the Adidas Challenge earlier this fall — a testament to her determination, growth, and commitment to the program.

Feyissa Woods followed closely behind with a time of 29:25 in what was also her final collegiate cross country race. Woods ran with grit and consistency throughout the season, narrowly missing All-Region recognition but finishing her Louisburg career with a strong performance.

"I'm proud of how hard the women worked this season and amazed by their dedication," said Head Coach Marshall Leonard. "Both Shamena and Feyissa showed tremendous improvement and represented Louisburg with pride."

The NJCAA Region 10 Championships marked the conclusion of the Louisburg College women's cross country season, capping off a year of hard work, perseverance, and progress.
