On Monday Louisburg College Men's Soccer ranked #1 in NJCAA Division II polls. The preseason recognition has been well earned by the program.

Since 2000 Men's Soccer has won their Region Championship 15 times: 2001-2007, 2009, 2012-2015, 2017-2019. They were the NJCAA National Runner Up in 2012 and National Champion in 2015.

Coach Ted Awana has been a big part of Louisburg soccer for almost 15 years. Awana was a Louisburg College alum who went on to play at Campbell University. After graduation he returned to Louisburg as an assistant from 2011-17, and he became head coach beginning in the 2018-19 season.

Under Awana, last year's team finished 15-1-1 and was undefeated in Region X play. The Hurricanes defeated Richard Bland College in the Region X Championship, Georgia Military College in the Southeast District Semifinal, and then tied with Eastern Florida State College in the Southeast District Final. The Hurricanes advanced to NJCAA DI Men's Soccer Championship Pool Play in Tyler, TX where they lost to Illinois Central College, but defeated Arizona Western College.

The 2021 roster includes 6 returners from last year's National Tournament team: Tomi Prizzia, Jimmy Cruz, Naoki Toyosawa, Danny Alvarez, Yusuke Kobayashi, and Christian Bonilla.

The Hurricanes open up their season on April 3 against Daytona State College. The game will be played at Georgia Military College and kickoff is at 2:00 pm.
