Hurricanes Blow Past Patrick & Henry for Third Straight Win
LOUISBURG, N.C. — The Louisburg College Women's Basketball team kept its momentum rolling Wednesday night, picking up its third consecutive win with a commanding 95–45 victory over Patrick & Henry Community College inside Roger Taylor Arena. The Hurricanes set the tone from the opening tip, racing out to a 14–0 start and controlling every phase of the game on their way to a dominant home performance.
Louisburg came out firing, scoring the first 14 points of the game and never looking back. The Hurricanes' defense overwhelmed the Patriots from the start, forcing 12 first-quarter turnovers and limiting them to just two points in the opening frame. By halftime, Louisburg led 50–22 and had total control of the game.
Freshman guard Taliya Rowe delivered a breakout performance, coming off the bench to score 31 points, including several highlight finishes in transition and key three-pointers that kept the momentum squarely on Louisburg's side. Sophomore forward Nyla Powell added nine points and anchored the defense with her inside presence, while Jaya Hamilton reached double figures with 11 points.
The Hurricanes' depth was again on display as 12 different players scored, including solid contributions from Khouri White, Shalawn Yates, Kayla Good, and Heaven Briggs. Louisburg's relentless pace and balanced attack kept Patrick & Henry on their heels throughout the contest, with the Hurricanes outscoring the visitors in every quarter.
Head Coach Dennis Gaskins praised his team's focus and energy following the win. "We wanted to set the tone early, and our defensive intensity did exactly that," Gaskins said. "We're still growing as a group, but the chemistry is coming together fast."
