Oct 12, 2024

The Louisburg College volleyball team faced a challenging day in Fayetteville, NC, going 0-2 in a tri-match against Fayetteville Tech and Cape Fear Community College. Despite the losses, there were moments of promise that the team can build upon.

In their first match against Fayetteville Tech, Louisburg put up a fight but ultimately fell short with scores of 22-25, 16-25, 25-23, and 22-25. Khori Viltz shone brightly for the Hurricanes, leading the team with 11 kills. However, attacking errors proved costly, swinging momentum in favor of Fayetteville Tech at critical moments. The team did demonstrate strong serving and solid blocking, but consistency was lacking.

The second match against Cape Fear was equally challenging, ending with scores of 17-25, 9-25, and 24-26. Makaylah Simmons led the charge this time with 10 kills, showcasing her ability to perform under pressure. Louisburg displayed solid play in the first and third sets, but a series of errors in the second set hindered their progress.

"We learned more about how great defense can create opportunities," Jailynn Hunt noted. "Overall, we played well throughout the day, and these experiences will help us grow as a team."

Next up, the hurricanes travel to Greenville, NC on Wednesday, October 16th to take on Pitt Community College on their Sophomore Night.
