Volleyball Caps Busy Week With Road Sweep

Louisburg, N.C. –  Louisburg College volleyball continued Region 10 play this past week with a full slate of matches against Southwest Virginia, Cleveland Community, and Patrick & Henry Community College. The Hurricanes showed strong defensive effort and balanced contributions across the roster throughout the three-match stretch.

Louisburg opened play on October 4 with back-to-back contests at Richard Bland College. In the first match against Southwest Virginia, Joella Estes anchored the defense with a team-high 23 digs, while Naomi Chester led the attack with four kills. Ashia Teachy added two kills and three blocks, and Valery Bravo chipped in a pair of kills and 12 digs.

In the second match of the day against Cleveland Community, Naomi Chester again paced the Hurricanes with six kills and 13 digs, while Jayleen Barco Cruz guided the offense with nine assists and a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage on two kills. Joella Estes continued her strong play in the back row with 20 digs, and Isabella Thigpen and Valery Bravo each added key defensive stops as Louisburg battled through three close sets.

The Hurricanes capped the week on October 8 with a 3–0 sweep on the road at Patrick & Henry Community College, delivering one of their most complete performances of the season. Valery Bravo led the way with four kills, three aces, and seven points, while Ashia Teachy and Jazmin Riley each added two kills and combined for six blocks at the net. Jayleen Barco Cruz distributed the offense efficiently with eight assists and eight digs, and Naomi Chester added eight digs and two aces.

Louisburg will return to action Saturday, October 11, when the Hurricanes face Guilford Technical CC at 2:00 p.m. as part of a Region 10 pod-match hosted by Davidson-Davie CC.
