Hurricanes Sweep Lenoir in Region 10 Tournament Opener

LOUISBURG, N.C. – The Louisburg College volleyball team started postseason play with a statement win, sweeping Lenoir Community College 3–0 (25–20, 25–22, 25–18) Tuesday night in the opening round of the Region 10 Volleyball Tournament inside Roger Taylor Arena.

The Hurricanes came out sharp in front of their home crowd, hitting an efficient .196 as a team and controlling the match from start to finish. Freshman Naomi Chester led the attack with 13 kills, 15 digs, and a .314 hitting percentage, capping off a standout week in which she was named Region 10 Honorable Mention for the 2025 season.

Fellow outside hitter Valery Bravo added 12 kills and 18 digs, while sophomore Ashia Teachy contributed six kills, four blocks, and two aces to power the front line. Setter Jayleen Barco Cruz directed the offense with 23 assists and added a pair of kills and seven digs. Libero Joella Estes anchored the defense with 16 digs, and Isabella Thigpen added 17 digs and two service aces in the win.

Louisburg showed poise late in each set, pulling away with timely kills and strong serving to seal its first postseason victory of the year.

With the win, the Hurricanes advance to the Region 10 semifinals, where they will face the tournament's top seed, Cape Fear Community College, on Friday in Wilmington, NC.
