Hurricanes Earn All-Region Honors
LOUISBURG, N.C. – After a strong regular season that saw the Hurricanes finish 22-4 overall and 17-3 in Region 10 play, Louisburg College Women's Basketball placed two student-athletes on the 2025 Region 10 All-Region Teams.
Sophomore forward Nyla Powell earned First Team All-Region honors following a dominant season in the paint. Powell averaged 17.2 points and 13.6 rebounds per game while shooting an outstanding 61.4 percent from the field. She totaled 413 points and 327 rebounds, leading the region in rebounding while adding 49 blocked shots. Powell recorded double-doubles consistently throughout the season and anchored a Louisburg defense that limited opponents to just 36.1 percent shooting.
Guard Khouri White was named Second Team All-Region after another steady and productive campaign. White averaged 11.6 points per game and connected on 39.1 percent of her three-point attempts, knocking down 54 triples on the season. She added 43 assists and 22 steals while starting all 25 games. Her perimeter shooting and ability to stretch defenses provided balance to the Hurricanes' inside-out attack.
As a team, Louisburg finished second in the Region 10 regular season standings with a 17-3 conference mark and remained unbeaten at home (13-0). The Hurricanes will now turn their focus to postseason play.
In addition to their on-court success, the Hurricanes were also recognized in the classroom. Jewel Brewington, Andrea Brown, Jaya Hamilton, Taliya Rowe, and Quincie Toran were named to the Region 10 Academic All-Region Team. The honor is awarded to student-athletes who earn at least a 3.7 GPA after the first semester or a 3.6 GPA with two or more semesters completed, highlighting the program's commitment to excellence both on the court and in the classroom.
Louisburg will compete in the Region 10 Tournament on Thursday, March 5 at 4:00 p.m. at the Tarlton Complex in Hickory, N.C. The Hurricanes will match up with Brunswick Community College after the Dolphins defeated Catawba Valley Community College 70-50 in the opening round.
